A Quality of Life Check is a focused wellness review that helps make sure a senior is safe, cared for, and not being overlooked or mistreated. It’s not just about asking “Are you okay?”—it is about looking deeper to catch warning signs of neglect, abuse, or unmet needs that others may have missed.
Quality of Life Check Team includes:
- Senior Advocates – Conduct in-home checks for seniors who live in a private residence, with a caregiver, or in housing that is not formally licensed or regulated. They assess emotional well-being, daily living needs, home safety, and support gaps. Advocates build trust, offer practical support, and ensure no senior feels invisible.
- Certified & Investigative Ombudsmen – Conducts checks at licensed care settings such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, adult daycares, and other state-regulated environments. They are trained to spot signs of mistreatment, neglect, poor care standards, or unresolved complaints and take proper steps to report and follow up.
What we check
Seniors facing mistreatment, family members feeling overwhelmed, and caregivers under stress all need support that does not stop after the danger is removed. We guide people through the emotional aftermath of mistreatment, offering tools and care that rebuild hope and stability.
- Your Happiness: Check whether the senior feels heard, valued, and emotionally supported—not isolated, overlooked, or dismissed
- Your Health: Look for signs of untreated medical concerns, neglect, or anything that could put physical well-being at risk
- Your Independence: Make sure the senior is still able to make personal choices and live with dignity, without being restricted or controlled
- Your Environment: Assess whether the living space is clean, safe, and respectful of the senior’s needs—not hazardous, unkempt, or degrading
How it works
- Step 1: We Start with a Conversation
A Senior Advocate connects with the senior and/or their family or caregiver—by phone or in person—to understand their concerns, needs, and goals - Step 2: We Visit and Personalize the Check
We schedule an in-person visit whenever possible and during this visit, we tailor the Quality of Life Check to the senior’s unique situation, adjusting based on their health, preferences, and environment - Step 3: We Do a Careful Review
The Advocate may take 1 to 2 hours to check the most important areas of a senior’s well-being, including safety, support, and daily conditions - Step 4: We Act If Something’s Wrong
If there are signs of mistreatment, neglect, or something that puts the senior at risk, we respond immediately to protect them and involve the right people - Step 5: We Share and Support
After the check, we review the findings with the senior and/or their family or caregiver and offer clear steps, resources, and continued support
